I always tell members of my career mentoring site that successful people sweat the small stuff. Here is a list of 10 rules for sweating the small stuff. Put these rules to work and you’ll be on your way to a successful and fulfilling life and career.
- Keep commitments and meet deadlines. If you are going to miss a deadline, let other people know as soon as you can so they can alter their plans.
- Proof your written documents. Don’t just run them through spell check.
- Return phone calls and email messages promptly.
- Be helpful. Think about what you can do to help other people reach their goals.
- Be a team player. Focus on helping your entire team succeed.
- Be well groomed and appropriate for every situation.
- Learn and use the basic rules of business etiquette.
- Create a positive on line presence.
- Send handwritten thank you notes to people who have helped you.
- Say “thank you” often.
Your career mentor,
Bud
