Constancy and Consistency Are the Keys to Your Personal Brand

There’s an old saying, “brand or be branded.”  In other words, create and nurture your unique personal brand, or others will brand you and you might not like the result.

This article highlights five ways you can create and nurture a powerful personal brand at work.

I like all five of Margaret’s ideas — but I particularly like the third tip — be consistent.  To that I would add, be constant.  Consistency and Constancy are the best tools for building a strong personal brand.  Once you’re clear on your value proposition you have to consistently and constantly act in a manner that gets people to think of you that way.

I am the Common Sense Guy.  I consistently and constantly present myself this way.  My writing is consistently clear, concise, to the point, useful and usable (at least I hope it is) — that’s the idea behind common sense.  I never stray into esoteric topics or get to caught up in the latest research or psychobabble.  On the other hand, I post to this blog five days a week — usually two or three times a day.  That constancy in action.

You need to do the same.  First figure out what you want people to think when they hear your name.  Then consistently and constantly act in a manner that will get them to think that way.  Try this, it works.
