I advise members of my career mentoring site that it’s important to create positive personal impact. Face to face conversations are a great place to create positive personal impact. Here are some tips for doing so.
- Stand up straight when you meet someone.
- Have a firm (not crushing) handshake.
- Look the other people in the eye when you’re having a conversation.
- Nod to show the other person that you’re listening to him or her.
- As questions to clarify points you don’t understand.
- Mirror the other person’s body language.
- If possible, try to sit at a 90 degree angle instead of sitting directly across from the other person.
- Smile. You’ll come across as warm and attractive.
These are just a few tips to help you create positive personal impact in conversation. Use them. They work.
Your career mentor,
Bud
