How to Find Your Unique Talent and Genius

Some of my brightest and most motivated students struggle when it comes to finding a job because they have a hard time figuring out what they want to do once they finish their MBA program. They don’t have a good grasp of their particular talent and genius.  Fortunately, my friend Nancy Marmolejo is an expert at helping people discover their unique talent and genius.

Recently, she created an ebook/workbook that she calls The Genius Finder: 10 Steps to Instantly See Your Unique Strengths (and Finally Own Them!).  In this ebook/workbook Nancy helps you identify five things:

  • Your natural strengths – the innate gifts you carry with you wherever you go.
  • Your acquired strengths – the things that give you the edge of experience and credibility.
  • The skills you love – the work related areas that take up the least amount of your energy.
  • Your personality traits – the things that distinguish you from others and give you a distinctive style.
  • Your values – your big WHY.

Then she helps you reflect on these five to help you get into a state of alignment and flow.

Finding your particular talent and genius is the first step in creating a finding the exact right job for you.  I suggest you get a copy of Nancy’s ebook/workbook and go through the exercises.  You can get a free copy here.

If you’re trying to figure out what you should be doing in your life, or if you’re unhappy in your job, you need to begin 2016 by stepping back and figuring out your unique talent and genius.  The Genius Finder is a great place to start.
