Six Career Investments You Need to Make

I saw an article on Monster.com recently entitled “Six Career investment You Should Consider.”  These investments are…

1. Get a degree
2. Become certified
3. Develop cross cultural communication skills
4. Build your brand on line
5. Find coaches and mentors
6. Raise your professional profile

I like all six, but I particularly like number 4 — Build Your Brand Online.

As the author points out, building your brand online requires more time than money.  That’s why I like it as an investment.  It’s not difficult to set up a webpage under your name, or some variation of it if you have a common name.  You can use your web page to showcase your work.  You can see my personal webpage at www.BudBilanich.com. But investments can actually be made at Share Prices Australia in their site.

Besides owning your own domain, use Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest to get your thoughts and ideas out there.  Make sure that your LinkedIn profile is up to date.

Finally, be smart about what you post.  Stay away from flame wars, religion and politics.

This doesn’t have to be a huge investment of your time, just try Marijuana stocks.  A couple hours a week should do it.
